Local explicit interval fields for non-stationary uncertainty modelling in finite element models

چکیده
Interval fields have been introduced to model spatial uncertainty in Finite Element Models when the stochastic resolution of available data is too limited build representative probabilistic models. However, current interval modelling techniques are according state-of-the-art potential, as they homogenise uncertain parameters globally defined parameters. Hence, these inherently unable represent local uncertainty. In practice, variations (non-stationary uncertainty) often occur, e.g., through effects manufacturing processes. This paper presents a novel method explicit fields, that furthermore less computationally demanding and conservative than global fields. The presented this based on concept develops an alternative approach for commonly applied inverse distance weighting generation basis functions. includes three case studies compare with method. obtained results discussed from numerical application point view show effectiveness efficiency proposed methods.

Interval Finite Element as a Basis for Generalized Models of Uncertainty in Engineering Mechanics
Latest scientific and engineering advances have started to recognize the need of defining multiple types of uncertainty. Probabilistic modeling cannot handle situations with incomplete or little information on which to evaluate a probability, or when that information is nonspecific, ambiguous, or conflicting [46, 11, 43]. Many interval-based models of uncertainty have been developed to treat su...
متن کاملUncertainty in Thermal Basin Modeling: An Interval Finite Element Approach
Uncertainty assessment in basin modeling and reservoir characterization is traditionally treated by geostatistical methods which are normally based on stochastic probabilistic approaches. In this talk, an alternative interval-based approach will be present. A solution for the transient heat conduction in sedimentary basins will be introduced using an interval finite element approach. For this p...
متن کاملInterval Uncertainty Quantification in Numerical Models using Dynamic Fuzzy Finite Element Analysis
Uncertainty and variability are always to some extent present in numerical simulations. Especially in the model definition phase, lack of information, scatter in material properties or environmental conditions imply that a designer should incorporate the possible effects of this non-determinism into the design procedure. This can be achieved by incorporation of the non-determinism in the numeri...
متن کاملConvergence of non-local finite element energies for fracture mechanics
Abstract. Usually smeared crack techniques are based on the following features: the fracture is represented by means of a band of finite elements and by a softening constitutive law of damage type. Often these methods are implemented with nonlocal operators which control the localization effects and reduce the mesh bias. We consider a non-local smeared crack energy defined for a finite element ...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Finite Element Methodology for Flexible Track Models in Railway Dynamics Applications
The dynamic analysis of railway vehicles involves the construction of three independent models: the vehicle model; the track model; and the wheel-rail contact model. In this work, a multibody formulation with Cartesian coordinates is used to describe the kinematic structure of the rigid bodies and joints that constitute the vehicle model. A methodology is also proposed in order to create detail...
